Airway & Joint Health

At Rose City Dentistry, we believe airway and jaw health are foundational to overall wellness, long-term comfort, and longevity. How you breathe, sleep, and function each day directly affects your energy levels, cognitive health, cardiovascular system, and quality of life.

Many patients are unaware that symptoms such as snoring, poor sleep, headaches, jaw pain, clenching, and chronic fatigue can all stem from underlying airway or joint dysfunction. Rather than treating these concerns in isolation, Dr. Ridley takes a comprehensive, whole-body approach—evaluating how the airway, jaw position, muscles, and bite work together.

By identifying and addressing these root causes, we are able to offer thoughtful, non-invasive treatments that support better sleep, reduced pain, improved function, and long-term health—not just symptom relief.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Treatment

Snoring and sleep apnea are more than nighttime nuisances—they can significantly impact your overall health, energy, and quality of life. Disrupted breathing during sleep has been linked to fatigue, headaches, jaw discomfort, cardiovascular concerns, and difficulty concentrating during the day.

At Rose City Dentistry, we offer custom oral appliance therapy as a comfortable, non-invasive option for patients with snoring or mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea. These precision-fit appliances gently reposition the lower jaw and tongue to help keep the airway open during sleep—supporting quieter breathing and more restorative rest.

Dr. Ridley carefully evaluates each patient’s airway, jaw position, bite, and joint health before recommending treatment. When appropriate, oral appliance therapy can be an effective alternative to CPAP, or a supportive option for patients who struggle with CPAP compliance.

Our goal is not just to improve sleep—but to do so safely, comfortably, and in harmony with your jaw health and long-term dental function.

Occlusal Guards

Occlusal guards are custom-designed appliances used to protect the teeth and jaw from the effects of clenching and grinding (bruxism). While they may look similar to sleep appliances, their purpose is different—and choosing the correct type is essential.

At Rose City Dentistry, Dr. Ridley takes time to evaluate each patient’s bite, jaw function, muscle activity, and sleep-related symptoms before recommending a guard. Some patients benefit most from night guards designed strictly for bruxism protection, while others may require a sleep-focused appliance that supports both airway health and jaw stability.

Because the wrong appliance can worsen symptoms or contribute to joint discomfort, we believe these decisions should never be one-size-fits-all. Through thoughtful evaluation and open discussion, we determine which option best supports your comfort, sleep quality, and long-term oral health.

HealthyStart® for children as young as  two!

HealthyStart® is a proactive approach to airway, sleep, and jaw development in growing children. Rather than waiting for problems to appear later in life, this therapy focuses on addressing the root causes of sleep-disordered breathing, jaw imbalance, and improper oral development early—when a child’s growth can still be guided naturally.

At Rose City Dentistry, HealthyStart® is used to support proper airway development, balanced jaw growth, and healthy oral habits that influence sleep quality, facial development, and long-term joint health. By improving breathing patterns and guiding the developing jaws into a healthier position, we can often reduce the risk of future orthodontic needs, TMJ concerns, and sleep-related issues.

This gentle, growth-guided approach allows us to care for children before symptoms become lifelong problems, supporting healthier sleep, improved focus, and better overall development.

Botox® for Jaw Pain & Muscle Tension

Botox® can be an effective therapeutic option for patients experiencing jaw pain, muscle tension, clenching, or chronic headaches related to TMJ dysfunction. When used strategically, Botox® helps relax overactive muscles, reducing strain on the jaw joints and surrounding tissues.

Our goal is always to restore balance and function while preserving long-term joint health.
